With a background in digital media, art history and architecture, Romy Randev aims to bring light and color to interior spaces with his work. Over the course of international travel, Randev became intrigued by the quality of light conducted by stained glass in Gothic cathedrals and architectural screens. Randev’s works aim to capture the viewer’s imagination by drawing attention to the interaction of color and light—be it sunlight or LED. Glass has a strong tradition in architecture, and Randev explores modern ways of integrating color and glass into interiors. The last two years of his practice have been spent studying glass techniques and designing objects that combine old-world craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques. Through the combination of technology, glass and light, Randev creates objects that combine visual pleasure and functionality.
