May 26, 2016, San Francisco, CA — Secession Art & Design is pleased to curate a solo show, One day on a beach in California, by Los Angeles artist Jeff Klarin. These vast landscapes convey a feeling of being grounded and allow one to feel part of a rapidly changing moment. This imagery prompts the viewer to think about their own life and story, and where they fit into it. Please join us for the opening on Friday, June 17, 6-9pm to meet the artist.

Jeff Klarin was born and raised in Los Angeles. Exploring and pushing the boundaries of conventional fabrication and visual representation is what drives his creations. Many of his mixed-media pieces utilize photography, painting, illustration and transfer techniques that create organic ‘accidents’ that unexpectedly alter and transform the creative process. Jeff has shown in both solo and group exhibitions in Japan and the U.S. and has received extensive coverage in British and European publications. He is in the collections of numerous film and music industry professionals.

Secession Art & Design opened our first Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson. In 2010 and 2012 through 2014, Secession was awarded Best Art Gallery by San Francisco Bay Guardian readers, for continuing to push the envelope in exhibitions and wearable art.
