May 11, San Francisco, CA – Reflected Spirits is a two-person exhibition of new works from San Francisco-based artists Joshua Coffy and Dianne HoffmanReflected Spirits will be on view from June 2 to July 26, 2015 at Secession Art & Design, 3235 Mission St, San Francisco. The artists will be in attendance at the opening on Friday, June 12, 6:30-9:30pm.

San Francisco artists Joshua Coffy and Dianne Hoffman present a new series portraying a paralleled respect and relationship to animals. Both artists have referenced the other’s work to create their mirrored counterparts for this upcoming show.

Illustrating a connection to animals as sentient beings, Josh brings a unique symbolism to his paintings.  His mixed media works combine many layers of texture, paper patterns and acrylic paint with his individual insight towards how humans relate to the birds and mammals around us.

Dianne depicts her personal bond to animals by crossing their humanely obtained remains with various doll parts, salvaged objects and clay to create clever, hybrid creatures.  She unifies the human condition with an animal’s virtue in her playfully narrative, three dimensional assemblage boxes.

Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson. In 2010 and 2012 through 2014, Secession was awarded Best Art Gallery by San Francisco Bay Guardian readers, for continuing to push the envelope in exhibitions and wearable art.
