Art Opening & Mission Bernal Holiday Walk this Friday
10% of art sales Friday will go to NorCal fire relief
Secession Art & Design is getting festive with a our new holiday art show, reclamation, a three-woman show featuring Hilary Williams, Shannon Amidon, and Su Evers. Our hearts, spirits, and communities were tested this year with the mix of politics and natural disasters. How will we rebuild? What is the relationship between animals, nature, history, and our current state? Through reclaimed wood, encaustic, photo transfer, paint, and screen printing, each texture draws you into an artist's interpretation of reclaiming strength and the hope that a new year promises.
Join us this Friday, December 8, 6-9pm for our art opening and holiday party. Neighboring business all over Mission Bernal are offering specials on food and drink - visit your favorite spots or try someplace new!
During the Northern California fires many people had to let their animals go. Names and numbers were written on the hooves of horses. A giraffe from Safari West walked down an urban street in Sonoma County. These images will always stick with us, as well as how a community rises up. Our featured artist Hilary Williams painted this show in her Santa Rosa studio before and after the fire. Luckily, her farm and studio were saved. Hilary is organizing an event so families who lost everything can choose from hundreds of donated paintings, ceramics, housewares, and prints. A piece that will be the start of a new home. 10% of art sales this weekend will go to these efforts. Art is a symbol of home - let's help people rebuild.
See you Friday,
Eden
