Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Help out your community by shopping local

Secession Art & Design is proud to say that we have kept our doors open and represented our community (60+ independent makers) for almost 10 years. Our gallery and boutique is completely funded by you. With all the concern about what is happening around us in the world, one of the most immediate ways to help is to shop local. Every dollar that you spend in your neighborhood directly benefits the people in your community. Unlike a non-profit that can apply for grants or tax-exempt donations, we are not eligible for most funding.

As many of you know, I work my store almost every day to make sure there is enough to cover the incredible overhead of running a small business in San Francisco. Please just remember that every time you buy art or something small like a onesie, you are the reason that we stay open. You can do your part by shopping and spreading the word about us through your social networks. Shout-outs to any of your favorite local shops are greatly appreciated. While the world is in transition, it is important to give your attention to the people and places that give flavor to each and every neighborhood. Thanks for shopping local!
