Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Zuri #JustOneDress popup at Secession - Friday, March 30 4-8pm

Secession Art & Design is hosting a pop-up for clothing designers Zuri on Friday, March 30, 4-8pm. Designers Ashleigh and Sandra recently spent time in Africa, choosing new fabrics for spring and meeting with their makers. They would love to tell you the stories behind what it's like to work globally and create a fair-trade "one dress" that looks amazing on so many women. Stop by Secession to see our current collection, or shop for one night from their limited styles. They're packing two suitcases full of dresses that will help you be part of this #JustOneDress movement. RSVP on Facebook.

We first discovered Zuri dresses thanks to artist Soad Kader, and now they're a staple in many San Francisco creatives' wardrobes!

See you Friday,
Eden

"I love my Zuri dresses. They are the perfect layer for any San Francisco day. It has definitely become a conversation starter! When people compliment me on the dress, I do a small twirl to show it off and tell them that it can be a jacket, dress, or skirt. I like to explain that the company makes just one dress, and pays fair wages to the makers in Kenya. I wear it more as a jacket and I love it because it makes any outfit pop. I bought my first one over the holidays after admiring Eden's, and within hours of her posting the new line, I came to the store to buy two more." -Analise
