Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Taylor Jay pop-up, plus new art!

Join us this Friday, Oct 5, 6-8pm

Secession Art & Design is hosting a popup for Oakland clothing brand Taylor Jay Friday, October 5th, 6-8pm. This is a rare opportunity to shop their curated collection at 15% off during the event.

At Secession, I am always looking for clothing that's made locally, wears well, and makes you feel and look beautiful. Taylor Jay caught my eye online and I made it a point to meet her in person. I was completely moved by her story as a mom and owner of her East Bay boutique. Recently she launched a crowdfunding campaign to introduce plus sizes into her line. Her words encouraged me that the local fashion movement in the Bay Area is strong.

Please donate to her campaign and shop her collection. I am excited for you to meet Taylor Jay this Friday, and raise a glass to an inspiring woman making a difference in her industry and building a community of women who are not afraid to tell their story and look good at the same time.

XO Eden

PS: We just installed our new fall art show, Surroundings, featuring Shannon Amidon, Mary Burger, Leah Jachimowicz, Nolan Jones and Heather Robinson. Join us to see this amazing show in person and you may find yourself going home with a new piece of art.
