Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Welcome to the world, Baby Luca.

New hours too! Thursday-Sunday,12-7pm

I want you to all meet baby Luca. He was born on March 20, on the super moon and the first day of spring, a passionate and experimental Pisces. I had a natural birth at The Mission Bernal Hospital, aka St. Luke's. He was delivered by an all-women team who helped me do what felt like the impossible. I have never felt more supported by not only medical professionals, but by women who knew my story of living and working in the neighborhood. After the pain, pushing, and pure bliss, these powerful women brought me a double scoop of Mitchell's ice cream. Thank you to everyone who has been there for my journey to mamahood, shopped, and donated to my maternity leave fundraiser. I am healing, bonding, and loving every moment that I have to spend with Luca and my husband Jason.

Our current show, Into Light, featuring Silvi Alcivar, Bianca Levan, and Leslie Morgan, ends this Sunday. In it, three women use experimental mediums to explore themes of life, the unexpected, and nature. Stop by the gallery this weekend 12-7pm and take a piece of art home with you.

XO
Eden
