Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Raising a baby at Secession

Spring hours: Thursday - Sunday, 12-7pm

Secession Art & Design has been my baby for the past 12 years. I have dedicated my time and love for curating to a community of artists and designers. 20 days ago, I welcomed my baby boy into the world. Thank you to everyone who donated to my maternity leave and shared it on Facebook. I was able to take two weeks from working the gallery full time. I have gently returned back to work (part-time).

Baby Luca helped with his first art install and attended his first art opening at the gallery for the opening of Shane Izykowski's Midnight Moon in the Garden of Goodbye. I spent most of the night feeding and cuddling, but it warmed my heart to see the gallery full of customers and new friends celebrating our dark and beautiful Spring show.

Support Secession and this new mama by shopping this weekend 12-7pm. Luca may be awake enough to give you a smile.
