Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Celebrate our 13th anniversary with our new show "continuum"

featuring art by Heather Robinson, /eE.l.os/ and Ytaelena Lopez

Secession Art & Design's 13th Anniversary show, continuum, features work by in-house artist Heather Robinson, collaborative /eE.l.os/ and Ytaelena Lopez. Together this exhibition shows art in the time of social distancing, political unrest, and those sweet and thought-provoking moments in all the chaos. Heather's bright colors, textures, and patterns are geometric happiness that brings joy to the home. /eE.l.os/ is a collaboration between Andreina Davila and Ytaelena Lopez, who beautifully show the emotions of the animal world. Ytaelena's own art captures scenes from Black Lives Matters protests and her experiences with protest in Venezuela.

Thank you for thirteen years of curating shows. I still feel the passion each time I watch artists work magic in their studios, hang their art on the walls, and step back to see it all come together. You can shop this collection online or make an appointment this weekend to see it in person.

See you soon, Eden

P.S. Save the date for our Zoom Virtual Happy Hour on Friday, August 21, 6-7 pm.
