Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Vinyl and live music in our near future!

We're closed Sunday July 4

Secession Art & Design is my home away from home, where I get to curate over 70 independent artists and designers. Part of my vision for this year is to bring more music and film to the storefront. For my email this week, I wanted to tell you about my husband's band Eye O. They had an album come out during the pandemic, and it was a surreal experience to not play shows, tour, or have a release party. Luca played a kid's synth on one of the songs. I adore the wild dance parties and love for instruments that they have inspired in my son. I am thankful to Mickey Darius of Broken Clover Records for giving back to the community and putting out some amazing records during a tough year for musicians.

Stop by the gallery this weekend for some local shopping and stay in the neighborhood for some live music at The Knockout or The Royal Cuckoo. You might just need a new t-shirt, dress, or outfit for experiencing live music again.

You rock, Eden
