break open: Silvi Alcivar, Dianne Hoffman, J.L. King
Secession Art & Design's new show, break open, features Silvi Alcivar, Dianne Hoffman, and J. L. King, three Bay Area women artists who communicate the unsaid through their art. This curation reflects emotion, strength, beauty, and the hunger to create and to feel human connection. Silvi created 100 small pieces, each with a poem carefully placed inside a bottle, perfect for those in your life who want some magic and healing. Diane was inspired by playful jewel tones that inform her storytelling, using found objects to create colorful windows into her imagination. J. L. King's surreal oil paintings set the stage for wonder and curiosity.
This year has pushed all of us to explore the unknown. As a curator, I am so happy that we did not put this show on pause, but saw it through to its opening night. Please join us this Friday, February 5th, 6-7pm for a virtual happy hour (Zoom link) to meet and engage with these talented ladies.
Hugs, Eden
PS: All art is available for sale online, and if you'd like to see the show in the gallery, we offer virtual or in-person appointments.
