Secession Art & Design's last show in San Francisco is a must-see, featuring Silvi Alcivar and Rachel Znerold. This abstract and poetic two-woman show titled we are remembering everything is a visual story of pausing, breathing, and letting go. It is about being open to new beginnings, adventures, and creating new memories. Everything is meant to be and the unknown will become known. we are remembering everything

because we're so consistently reminded these days that our days have an end, we gather how and when and as safely as we can. meanwhile, quarantine weeks somehow became years, lockdown not just for school emergencies or prisoners escaping but all the alarms still sounding in us, all the cells of these still anxious bodies keeping us kept inside—literally, metaphorically, exhaustedly, and alive. so, we watch our ever changing sky, still able and willing to admire that wonder takes shape in cloud not just when seeing a dragon become an elephant, a flower become a sea, but also when we set down—for just a moment—our heart’s heaviness, our mind’s proliferation, our spirit’s ache. oh yes, we remember our wholeness when we look and see there is respite in the shift of attention. so, look at the ocean from your window. see vastness moving you awake. look at the tree while you are walking. see the season breathe its colors into sky. look at the iceberg rising like a mountain. see the fragility and strength of our planet, our lives.  look at birds glittering into horizon. see their wings sing. listen to their hymn: oh how we trust the wind will carry us. and so it does. and so it does. 

this series aims to wing you into memory. perhaps memory then carries you to feeling. feeling lifts you to your body. your body guides you into the sound of your own breath. and ah, that's it!—presence. ah, that’s it!—be here, dear one: present. all i can ever wish is that art offers you this gift.

this show is dedicated to eden stein owner of secession art and design and dear friend whose heart for the art community in the bay area is as brilliant and expansive as sun setting over pacific ocean. though the time has come for eden’s light to rise on another shore, all of her affecting and beautiful warmth will ever stay in this changed-for-the-better-community. may our commitment to keeping art and art community thriving in san francico keep eden’s light thriving here too.
