Secession's 3rd Anniversary Party
Friday August 20, 2010, 6:30 - 9:30pm

Sunsets, urban nature, and summer bring new life to our current collection at Secession Art & Design. Our gallery explores flight and grounding through textiles and photography. Our adventures with our traveling boutique present you with clothing and jewelry from San Francisco, Oakland, LA, Portland, and New York. Secession is celebrating its 3rd anniversary devoted to independent design! The sun sets on what is possible, and your support keeps our creative community inspired. Our doors open up to an oasis on Mission Street. Collection curated by Eden Stein

Please join us for our 3rd anniversary party, and help us celebrate another year with all our Secession artists and designers! DJ Extra Lars will be spinnin' vinyl, The Poetry Store will be writin' poems, and the wine will flow.

If our party is not in the cards, please visit us Saturday or Sunday, 12-7pm.

A portion of the proceeds will go to streetside.org

Secession Art & Design is taking to the streets! Check out where our traveling boutique will be this summer.

Nicole Markoff

Brittany M Powell
Nicole Markoff, best known for her clothing line, Nicacelly, is now returning to her original craft of textile sculpture. With Devotion at Secession, she creates dialog between textiles and her ongoing interest in yogic studies, the influence of flight and grounding, and time spent in Appalachia and East Asia. The selection will feature fabric hand dyed, painted, hand sewn, and reconstructed by the artist. Markoff believes that fine art is born from fine craft, and marries the two with a conceptual approach and a knowing hand. Brittany M. Powell was born in Naples, Italy, grew up in the southern United States and has been in a love affair with Northern California for the last eleven years. After graduating from the California College of Arts (and Crafts) in 2003 she has pursued her photography, and just completed a year and a half long job working on a documentary for National Geographic TV on the Plastiki Expedition. She spends most of her free time sleeping in tents, surfing and practicing yoga.

The Front Porch. Our art is now the backdrop to fantastic southern-inspired food.

Alex Garcia
Garcia’s art is an intersection of complex textures, bold colors, function, and beauty, inspired by the vibrance of his birthplace of Buenos Aires and childhood years in both Chicago and New York City. He breathes new life and new meaning into discarded and reclaimed materials. The combination of textures, colors, and dimensions evokes nature in its pure, controlled, yet fanciful expression.
