Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Secession's 11th Anniversary Celebration: Friday August 3, 6-9pm

Secession Art & Design is celebrating our 11th anniversary with an opening featuring artists Heather Robinson and Joshua Coffy. They've collaborated to bring us Civilizations, a two-person show that tells a story about animals that are endangered or on the verge of extinction.

Heather has had her art studio in Secession since the day we opened. Her art has evolved over the years, and this series takes her technique of creating organic and geometric acrylic landscapes on fields of fabric to a new level, pairing them with Josh's soulful handpainted animals. Together, they created a show that seamlessly shows you a primal world, focusing attention on protecting the natural environment and bringing awareness to the surface. Please join us this Friday, August 3, 6-9pmfor the celebration and opening of this powerful show.
