Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

TONIGHT! 11th Anniversary Party and Fundraiser

Friday, August 3, 6-9pm

I am celebrating 11 years of owning and curating Secession Art & Design tonight and hope you will join us at the gallery for the party from 6-9pm. Stop by to shop local, donate to our Patreon fundraiser and celebrate being part of our community. We'll have cookies by XO Bakes and deviled eggs from Blue Plate. DJ Extra Lars will be spinning vinyl (we got our live entertainment permit!).

Meet our current artists, Heather Robinson and Joshua Coffy. They have collaborated to bring us Civilizations, a two-person show that tells a story about animals that are endangered or on the verge of extinction.

Thank you to my family, friends, staff, artists, designers and loyal clients that show me endless support and keep me strong when I have doubts. Thank you to MEDA and the Office of Economic Development Workforce for the mini-grant that helped us purchase our film screening equipment to show indie films, and Assessor Carmen Chu for awarding us with Favorite Neighborhood Business. These unexpected successes give me the confidence to keep growing Secession.

See you tonight!
Eden

This year Secession Art & Design won Carmen Chu's Neighborhood Favorite Small Business Award - here's a little video they made about us.
