Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Summer Vacay - Portland Bound

Secession is closed this Sunday

When people ask me what art I create in the gallery, I always tell them "I make the store." Curating art, clothing, and jewelry by over 70 independent makers is my creative passion and art. I usually start with the colors and textures in our current show, then look for complementary clothing and jewelry. I am a hands-on store owner who loves to do studio visits. This is the best way for me to get to know my vendors, understand their process, and pick up some unique pieces that are perfect for Secession.

I'm excited to hop on an airplane on Sunday to go do a few studio hellos, check out the local stores, network, watch my husband's band play and visit some friends. Looking forward to some sun and adventure.

Stop by the gallery this weekend, Friday & Saturday 12-7pm.
We'll be closed Sunday, August 19 and then reopen for our regular hours on Tuesday, August 21.
