Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Summer Dresses from Portland have arrived

Stop by this weekend 12-7p

I'm back from my trip to Portland, where I got to visit several designers in their studios and stores. I traveled light and brought home a bagful of dresses by Vivid Element and a.ell atelier for Secession. I'm always thinking about my customers when I'm out looking for clothing for the store. When I go to a designer's studio, I try on each dress to see how it will look on the body. I want to know that the fit is flattering, the patterns are unique, and that the fabric washes well. My goal is to dress you up with clothing that makes you feel and look beautiful. Stop by this weekend 12-7p to see what's new and tell me travel stories from your summer.

While I was in Portland, I got to go swimming in the river and go to Latourell Falls. Walking right up to a waterfall really made me feel like the world is full of possibilities. Secession feels this way to me - with a lot of love, determination, and hard work, anything is possible. I'm feeling optimistic and ready to set goals for the future. Please stop by often to see our curated collection of art, clothing, and jewelry from over 70 independent makers. There's something for everyone in the family.
