Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Shop, eat, play pinball, and get a haircut, all on one city block

Secession Art & Design is nestled between a music venue (The Knockout) and a barbershop (Barber & Gent). On our city block, you can get a burrito at Taqueria Cancun, crunchy tacos at Sabor de San Miguel, Japanese curry at Fumi, or a margherita pizza at Pizza Hacker, just to name a few. You can eat Hawaiian-inspired food and play pinball at Outer Orbit, do your taxes, or get your hair cut.

Stop by Secession this weekend to shop from over 70 independent artists & designers and experience our block. Something we hear all too often these days is that the city is changing, businesses are closing and culture is going away.  Get to know the owners that run small businesses and become part of our community.

See you soon,
Eden
