Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Cats playing guitar, music art, and a dance-party playlist

Secession Art & Design has been closed for 30 days now, while we're sheltering in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a shocking reality to adjust to as I make major decisions about the future of the gallery & boutique. 80% of our sales normally come from people coming in and viewing our collections.

I am thankful to all of our customers who have made a conscious choice to shop our online art collection and mini boutique, all the customers who donated to our GoFundMe or have sent a note cheering me on that this will all be ok. Music and family have kept me strong during this time when everything is unknown. All I know is my baby boy loves to play and dance. Every day at noon I join my neighbors, 6 feet apart, to dance with our little ones and take 15 minutes off to be truly in the moment. I get lost in this moment. What will you remember from this time?

Check out our rock collection, because everyone could use music in their life to keep their mind and body moving.

XO
Eden

PS: Here's the playlist, curated by Stacy H for our neighborhood - enjoy!
