Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Synesthesia by artist Olena McMurtrey


Secession Art & Design is excited to feature "Synesthesia", our summer solo show by artist Olena McMurtrey. This exhibition explores the movement of the city, abstract landscapes, and waves painted in oil and resin. It is a deep dive into three bodies of work, giving you a birds-eye view into her color wheel of paint and imagination.

Please join usFriday June 11, 5-7pmfor our first in-person art opening in over a year to see the gallery for yourself and meet Olena. This event is indoors, and we ask that everyone wear a mask, even if fully vaccinated. Also, we will not be serving food or wine, but encourage you to attend our opening and then get drinks and food in the neighborhood. Our friends at The Knockout and Outer Orbit have amazing parklets next door. Our staff will be monitoring capacity so everyone can social distance and enjoy this beautiful show!

I am so happy that Secession survived the pandemic and that we now get to gather face to face. Thank you for celebrating with us!
