Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Art Party & Talk In-person Tonight!

Secession Art & Design is excited to host an artist talk where you can ask Olena McMurtrey about her inspiration and the process behind her solo show, Synesthesia. This exhibition explores the movement of the city, abstract landscapes, and waves painted in oil and resin. It is a deep dive into three bodies of work, giving you a birds-eye view into her color wheel of paint and imagination.

This event is indoors, and we are asking everyone to wear a mask, even if fully vaccinated. Also, we will not be serving food or wine, but encourage you to attend our opening and then get drinks and food in the neighborhood. Our friends at The Knockout and Outer Orbit have amazing parklets next door.

I am so happy that Secession survived the pandemic and that we now get to gather face to face. Thank you for celebrating with us!

See you soon, Eden
