Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

14th Anniversary Art Party

This Friday, August 6, 6-8pm

Secession Art & Design is celebrating our 14th Anniversary with the opening of Longevity, featuring Heather Robinson and Makiko Harris. This two-woman show explores each artist's use of color, medium, texture, and visual storytelling.

Heather's studio has been nestled in Secession since we opened. When you visit the gallery you can get a front-row seat to look into her world where she paints, creates patterns, and experiments. Makiko is showing work from two series. The "Optimism" series is abstract, organic, and playful. Unstretched canvas is framed beautifully to show the juxtaposing raw paths that happen in life. Her second selection is inspired by living in San Francisco. Seeing the city from an abstract perspective is refreshing and unexpected.

Please join us onFriday, August 6, 6-8pmto experience this show in person and meet the artists.
