Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Art, Architecture and Making a Dream Home for Your Art!

Secession Art & Design is featuring two women artists this week who use unusual materials and textures in their work. For our 15th Anniversary Show, Andreina Davila and Dianne Hoffman created art for the narrow wall spaces in your home. These spots can highlight the details in each piece and add so much character to each room. Dianne uses found objects to create assemblages. Andreina uses encaustic wax to make abstract works that look almost like topography. With so much detail in both, you will discover new things each time you view their art.

All art is available for immediate purchase. Please choose our pickup option at checkout if you want to pick up your piece at 307 Cortland on August 4-7.

I want to highlight two of our sponsors who use green practices and giving-back techniques in their architecture and real estate services. I constantly find myself amazed at the growth and community that people build into their businesses. If you are looking to rebuild your home, check out Red Dot Studio - or if you are buying a new home, Jeny Smith. (If you need art to go in your home, shop Secession Art!)

Thank you, Red Dot Studio and Jeny Smith, for sponsoring our 15th Anniversary show!
