Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

307 Cortland opens today!

Secession Art & Design's Pop-up opens today 12-8pm at 307 Cortland. What an amazing adventure, to enter an empty storefront yesterday and install art by 15 artists. This morning I walked into the gallery in awe of the collection on the walls.

Today's featured artists are Amos Goldbaum and Jenny Feinberg. Amos created a Bernal mural on canvas to honor our neighborhood and friendship. Jenny's gorgeous watercolor with hints of metallic expresses her love of the ocean. Stop by this weekend to celebrate with us and shop!

All art is available for immediate purchase online. If you would like to pick it up at the pop-up, choose this option at checkout.

Pop-up Hours:

Thursday, August 4: 12-8pm
Friday, August 5: 12-8pm - Anniversary Party 6-8pm
Saturday, August 6: 12-8pm
Sunday, August 7: 12-6pm

Today's sponsor for our 15th Anniversary Popup is Sandy Owens Massage and Healing. Sandy has been a Certified Massage Therapist and Holistic Health Educator since 1994, and has had a private practice in Bernal Heights for the last 18 years. She studied at National Holistic Institute and blends eastern and western massage modalities of Swedish, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Trigger Point Therapy, Thai Massage, and Reiki to help you feel your best. I have known Sandy for over a decade as a customer, friend, and bookkeeper. Owning a small business is mental and physical. Self-care has been so important to keep my head in the game.

Thank you, Sandy Owens, for sponsoring our 15th Anniversary Pop-up!
