Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Sutro Tower Art & Happy Dogs!

Secession Art & Design and my home in San Francisco both had a view of Sutro Tower. Many locals have a running joke and bragging rights that Sutro can be seen from their homes. What always makes me laugh is that you can see this landmark from every neighborhood in the city. This week's featured artist is Heather Robinson, who made fifteen affordable mini abstract Sutros for our 15th Anniversary Pop-up. Thank you Heather for being our in-house artist at the gallery and graphic designer for the last fifteen years. You rock!

All art is available for immediate purchase online. You can choose the pickup option at checkout if you plan to join us at 307 Cortland August 4-7. Excited to see everyone in Bernal!

I have learned a lot from this week's sponsor, Alisha Ardiana of Empawthy, about what it's like to have a dog in the city. Her philosophy and dog-training approach at her business is positive reinforcement for pups and their people. I can imagine Alisha with her dog Civetta on a hike around Twin Peaks, admiring Sutro Tower and watching the lights of San Francisco sparkle. She is a thoughtful trainer who helps dogs become successful in urban environments!

Thank you, Empawthy, for sponsoring our 15th Anniversary Pop-up!
